Reflections on the Crucible

I found the Crucible to be annoying to read on the surface. Everything was going wrong from beginning to end I never really had an idea of what was going to happen. On the surface the antagonist gets away, and the protagonist is hanged. More people are hanged for no true reason and the whole logic is flipped upside down. I''m a very logical guy so if I agree with something being reasonable then it is what I believe is right, so when people are being hanged for and assumption that these girls might actually be seeing something infuriates me. Only a handful of people were able to pull themselves out and look at everything from a whole to see that what was happening was wrong. It was not real fun to read, because it became seeming apparent that the end was sent in stone and the end consisted of the people who actually were using their brains were hanged. Though when brought into the context of the play all being a metaphor of the McCarthy hearing is very fascinating. It is amazing how someone can use an analogy to show something and prove a point. This kind of also made me mad that the flipped logic can happen in these more modern times. It is almost scary that something that one can't really control can happen just do to logic being flipped.

Political Climate of the 1950's

I found this video one ten Hollywood associated people that were arrested when brought into questioning by the HUAC. They didn't answer any of the questions stating that they did not need to under the 1st amendment. When taken to court they were arrested for contempt of congress. The video reflects on the different people and what they did to influence the Hollywood industry and how they are now arrested and all of what they did doesn't matter. I find this video fascinating on how people may be so hoodwinked into doing something that is clearly wrong. The right of speech clearly protects them, but it is still bypassed to throw them in jail. I figured this mindset of witch hunting would be left in the ages of not knowing a lot, but it was in this period of time where no one was safe.

Puritan Plain Style

Neither believers nor non-believers are safe from the fury of hell. All believes must remain sinless in order to achieve a spot in God's special kingdom of Heaven. Though many might not think of this, we only live through God's mercy. He is angry at the world for all of it's sins and as all of his believers slowly become non believers. Repent now as the gates of Heaven are open and the fire of hell lick your feet. God's mercy is what holds you from falling into eternal death and it is your doing that breaks that help sends you into the burning pits. The fires of hell are warming up as it prepares for the next wave of sinners to be burned forever. God's mercy is the only way believers may survive and thankfully his mercy is strong. He can at anytime kill anyone in a way such that it seams natural. Everyone hangs above the ovens of hell as you cling for your life in fear. You must keep strong to avoid the pits hell and to clinch the shining and rare opportunity of gates of heaven being open.

They All Played A Part

Squanto was arguably one of the most helpful people for the Plymouth plantation. He negotiated peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Native Americans that lasted for at least twenty four years. This is essential since there was already an attack on the Pilgrims by the Indians that ended in Native American deaths. Besides the Pilgrims not being hurt, they still suffered from starvation and other diseases that would weaken the Pilgrims enough for the  Natives to wipe them out if they were given the chance. Since Squanto knew good English and created this treaty, the settlers were allowed to stay in America. He also acted as their guide and also showed them different ways to plant and grow different crops. This helped the starvation in the colony dissipate. This was crucial in order for the Pilgrims to live. That is why I think Squanto was extremely important.
