Political Climate of the 1950's

I found this video one ten Hollywood associated people that were arrested when brought into questioning by the HUAC. They didn't answer any of the questions stating that they did not need to under the 1st amendment. When taken to court they were arrested for contempt of congress. The video reflects on the different people and what they did to influence the Hollywood industry and how they are now arrested and all of what they did doesn't matter. I find this video fascinating on how people may be so hoodwinked into doing something that is clearly wrong. The right of speech clearly protects them, but it is still bypassed to throw them in jail. I figured this mindset of witch hunting would be left in the ages of not knowing a lot, but it was in this period of time where no one was safe.
